Dear Editor,
As a former Citizen and a former City Commissioner, I can understand the frustration of business owners, It will be much better when the construction is complete. Right now everyone should be focused on crime and the problems in the Police Department. The real problem in the Oxford Police Department is, as it has been for several years, That being a lack of leadership. Most of the Commissioners have known for years that the city needs a new qualified Police Chief. The Board also knows that the city needs a new City Manager. The loss of numerous former Oxford Police officers is directly related to lack of leadership by the present Administration. It’s not all about pay, job satisfaction and trust in your leaders goes a long way in retaining officers.
You never hear any problems about the Oxford Fire Department. That is because you have a professional Fire Chief who is honest as well as a leader of men and women
The solution to the problem is to get a new City Manager who has the courage to fire or retire the Police Chief and get a qualified Chief..
